When Your Team Photo Becomes Outdated
Have you ever spent good money on a team photo shoot, only to add a new team member a month later? Suddenly, that expensive photo is no longer relevant. You’re left with two choices: keep the outdated picture and risk making your new hire feel left out, or pay for an entirely new photo shoot.
What if someone leaves?
It’s not just new hires who can throw a wrench in your team photo plans. Maybe someone on your team found another job or decided to move on. Sometimes, it just doesn’t work out. I’ve even had situations where team members could never coordinate their schedules to all be in one place on the same day. So, what do you do now?
Why Keeping Your Team Photo Current Matters
It’s crucial your team photo reflects your current lineup. Clients often connect deeply with individual team members, choosing your business because of that personal connection. Your newest hire might be the very reason someone decides to work with you—after all, you saw something special in them, and potential clients might too. (Curious about boosting your brand presence? Introducing the Composite Shot for a Team Photo
So, what is a composite shot, and why is it important?
A composite shot is an image created by blending several individual photos into one final image. In this case, the final product is your team photo. Each team member will be photographed in different poses. Then, using an editing software, the best images of each person are selected and merged together to create a seamless team shot.
The Value of Composite Shots
Composite shots are crucial because branding shoots are an investment. Do you really want to invest in a whole new shoot every time your team changes—even slightly? Most businesses would rather not. That’s where composite photography comes in handy.
How it Works
When you add a new team member, I schedule a quick, convenient mini session. During this session, we’ll capture individual headshots and specific poses designed for your team composite. You’ll only pay for this mini session rather than an entirely new photoshoot—keeping your expenses low and your brand sharp. (If you’re planning a session, see my guide: The Ultimate Prep Timeline to a Perfect Photo Session.)
If someone leaves your team? Updating your composite photo is simple and quick. Recently, when a client had an employee leave, it took me less than an hour to update their composite photo—no new shoot required.

Customizing Your Team Composite
Composite photos aren’t just practical—they’re customizable. We can capture your team in seated poses, standing positions, leaning on chairs, or in any style that matches your brand personality.
